Standard Plastisol. This is the most common/standard forms of printing media. Using plastisol (especially on dark garments) feels rough and a plastisized texture. We have many additives and techniques that will give your print more of a 'soft hand' if requested.
Discharge. One of our favorite forms of printing here at Astro. Discharge is the process of printing clear ink essentially 'bleaching' the garment. Colored discharge offers the ability to print bright opaque colors on darks with a soft hand.
Foil Foil printing is a two part process that involves printing a layer of adhesive on the garment, curing it like normal ink and heat pressing a sheet of foil onto the adhesive.
We are one of the only shops that stock a wide variety of colors, not just your traditional gold and silver. We carry Gold, Silver, Green, Bronze, Black, Red, Blue, Pink, Rainbow, Iridescent, Oil Slick, Purple.
Waterbase Water Based inks are a good choice when a soft hand is desired. A soft hand is the condition where the ink that is printing on the garment cannot easily be felt with the hand when ran across the fabric.
When using Water Based ink on whites it is most effective, but printing on darks is still an option... We could put down a discharge base first to knock out the dyed fabric.
However color matching with Water Base inks isn’t as exact as Plastisol inks with a discharge base.
Oversized (19.5"wx26"h) When Printing Oversized designs, its done on our manual presses. Due to the fact that printing manual is always more time consuming its also more costly.
Shirts have seams... large prints will sometimes go over the seams and you have to be aware that ink sometimes becomes "globby" and "spotty".
Oversized printing can be up to six colors.
All-Over (36"x40")
All-Over printing is another “niche” printing process we can do. Depending on the art, this process is usually limited to 1 or 2 colors.
With our all-over printing, you are able to print the entire surface of the garment. Although quality is our top concern, folds and smudges are things that are considered normal in places like the armpit and over seams.
When designing for all-over printing, try to avoid large deposits of ink.
